Product illustration is a powerful tool to help speak to the customer — offering clarity, personality, and reinforcing the value of our product. For Cash App, the absence of a cohesive visual direction and centralized library resulted in visual fragmentation, eroding customer trust and product quality. Our team set out to solve this by creating an extensive illustration system and library of assets in our new unified illustration inspired by editorial institutions like the New Yorker that felt reputable and clever while preserving the brand's edginess and sense of humor. This resulted in 200+ illustrations complete with guidelines for both product designers and illustrators.
