VOLUME UP!
WHY UPDATE ?
Since itโs founding in 2006, Twitterโs limited sound system remained. The signature Tweet sound (the whistle) wasnโt ownable by Twitter, itโs an iOS default. This system also did not account for neurodivergent people with sensory sensitivities.
Twitterโs New Sound Design System is contemporary, playful, with a twist of nostalgic self-awareness that takes into account the needs of neurodivergent customers and is ownable for Twitter.
NEURODIVERGENT
INDIVIDUALS RESEARCH
โI would get a ding and it would linger and it was horribleโ
โI mostly keep my phone on silentโฆ just because I find the noise jarring and uncomfortableโ
โWhat really annoys me as an end user is when a sound doesnโt have a purpose other than just being thereโ
โFacebook Messengerโs ping is the worst one. Itโs a ping and a pop combined. Itโs very suddenโ
โiPhone has the swooshes when you send a messageโฆ I wish I could send more emails because itโs kind of relaxingโ
โ[A sound is annoying] If itโs a distinct sound that is very repetitiveโ
